Random thoughts for the day 02/03/2017

I know it's been more than a few years since this site has been used.  I've decided to try and resurrect this site.  While the radio show has been gone for nearly 4 years, I figure i might as well make entries when I'm moved to do so.  I don't promise anything profound but I figure this will be cathartic, if nothing else.

President Trump

He is our president and won fair and square.  He has done some things that I like and some I don't.  However, he is anything but transparent when it comes to transparency (where are his tax returns, proof that he is being audited, a true medical report and how about the results of genetic testing to see if he is more susceptible to being afflicted with late onset Alzheimer's (he does have a family history, unfortunately)).  His move with the National Security Council is ill advised, at best, and is more likely to be bone-headed and disastrous.  His go ahead with the Keystone XL Pipeline is wrong and won't do anything for energy independence and will more likely raise gas prices, not lower them, as this article that was in Forbes Magazine points out so very well:

Betsy DeVos

This is a person that promises to reform education but apparently knows nothing about public education and has no experience with it.  She never attended public schools nor did her children.  She was evasive on some her answers before the Senate.  But add in an organization she was a director was found to be in violation of Ohio Campaign law and has yet to pay the fine levied against it and that doesn't speak well for her.

I know another conservative site, that i respect overall but sometime's disagree with, pointed out that Murkowski and Collins, Republican Senators that have crossed party lines to oppose her nomination pointed out that they have received donations from teacher's unions but also failed to point out that no doubt the Republican Senators favoring her nomination have received donations from groups supporting school choice, thus making their stances equally suspect.  This site also failed to investigate if the stance followed the dollars or if the dollars followed the stance.  Collins points out Maine's situation makes public education a much better option and a cut off of funding would hurt education in that state.  Alaska;s situation is similar to Maine's and, hence, is probably the reason for Murkowski's stance.  They may have taken those stances and then the dollars followed.
And here is a link of campaign contributions that Betsy DeVos and her husband have given.

Notice that Murkowski is a recipient of those donations in 2016.  So it seems that Muskowski is voting her conscious and for the will of her constituents, not for the money.  Shame on all those sites for poor and incomplete reporting and perhaps, in some cases, deliberate omission because to be accurate and complete would undermine their arguements against Murkowski and Collins.  Funny how this took me all of less than 30 seconds to discover.

Well, that is all for now.  Have a great and blessed day.
